The inside of Nemo's tank

Shawn and I celebrated our 8 year wedding anniversary this past week.  For a present to him, I decided to paint the laundry room.  Yes... Shawn does about 94% of the laundry in the Whiteley household, give or take a few.  If it were up to me, I would skip folding clothes and just pull from the dryer whatever it is I need for the day.  Not to mention Shawn is super picky on how towels and clothes should be folded, so I leave the job mostly up to him.
So back to the laundry room....
Shawn hated how dark and little it was, so I decided to have Shawn pull out a shelf and I painted the room a pretty blue.

His response: "Looks like the inside of Nemo's tank"!
We still need to add a horizontal shelf instead of the vertical one but I love it already... maybe I will start doing more laundry!  But I doubt it.

We also spiced up our bedroom a bit this weekend.  No, no, get your head out of the gutter...we added new curtains.
It's not a secret that my favorite home decor stores are: Pottery Barn, Anthropologie, and Hobby Lobby.  If I could, I would decorate my entire house and myself with items from Anthropologie.  Shawn hears the word and cringes because it is not cheap.  I always check out the sale items and last week noticed they had a few curtains on sale.  So, I called up a friend of mine (Christina), who I am convinced sees color differently than most people, for help.  She guided me in the right direction and now these babies are hanging in our bedroom...

They match the Pottery Barn pillows and quilt perfectly and were the same price I would have paid if I bought from JC Penny, so Shawn was pleased!

Happy Anniversary Shawn, I love you!

Soccer Mom

I am officially a soccer mom.  Mini vans have been calling my name lately.  Every time I see a nice one that is fully loaded I am secretly jealous.  It would be nice to cart around my children and their friends without having to calculate the dimensions in the truck to see if it is even possible.  Not to mention the sliding doors! A couple of years ago a friend of mine (Laura) got one and I scoffed at the idea.  Now, I have a few extra rolls in my mid section and a child that plays soccer.  Who am I kidding...I want a d@#% MINI VAN!

And if you were wondering... Abby loves soccer!

Little baby Athlete

Mia loves to dance, climb, jump, and swing so it was no surprise that she loves the Little Gym!

Look who surprised Mia today. She was so excited to show off!

Beautiful Sisters!

Happy Birthday My Sweet Baby Girl!

Dear Mia,
Tonight when I was putting you to bed, all I could think about was how fast these two years have gone by.  You have brought us so much joy and laughter in such a short time.

You are a beautiful, fun little girl that has a bit of a naughty side.  You love coloring, painting, and just about anything that has to do with art.  You love to sing and dance and have more rhythm than anyone in our family.  You enjoy reading books, but only specific books that you choose.  This spring you started gymnastics at the Little Gym and love it.  You are so active and have no fear that at times it can be a little scary.   You love running around, jumping, and climbing on just about anything.   You seem to really love any type of physical activity that you try, and I can't wait to watch you play what ever it is you choose to play.

Most days you walk around in the nude.  I can keep you dressed for about two hours and then you strip down the first chance you get.  You have even been known to put a few outfits in the trash when I am not looking.  This winter it snowed a lot and instead of being bundled up, you were naked the entire time.  Just when your Daddy and I think you won't be able to get out of what ever new piece of clothing we put you in, you turn into Houdini and master it within seconds.  I am hoping that your lack of wanting to wear a diaper will lead to easy potty-training.

Mia, you live off of eggs, cheese, and chocolate and refuse to drink anything except milk and coffee.  Once I had set a cup of coffee down on the table and walked off into another room.  When I came back in,  I found you on the floor drinking the cup of coffee and saying "Yummy"!  From that day on, you come running when you hear or smell the coffee maker working its magic.  You don't quite understand today why I won't let your drink a cup of joe, but I promise when you leave for college I will buy you your very own coffee maker.

I am fairly certain that your laugh is one of the best sounds I have ever heard.  You actually have two laughs.  One is just your everyday laugh that you use whenever you think something is slightly funny or when you are just trying to amuse us.  While this laugh is super cute, your second laugh could possibly bring world peace.  It comes from deep down in your soul and when I hear it, I know you are truly happy.  Not only do you have the best laugh, you have the sweetest voice.  You are just learning to put sentences together, and it is so much fun to hear what you have to say.

Happy Birthday my sweet Amelia Grace.  We are so happy to have you and look forward to hearing your laughter every day of our lives!

Love Mommy and Daddy
