Sprinkler Fun

We love our new backyard!

Pre-K 3

Abby started Pre-K 3 this week!  I have been anticipating this week since last April, mostly because I was worried Abby would not be ready for school.  I think the problem was, I was not ready.  I dropped Abby off on Monday and immediately wanted to go right into her classroom and pick her up.  She on the other hand did not even notice I had left.
It was comforting to know that Mia had a hard time with Abby being gone also. She walked around the better half of the day saying "Abby, Abby" and looking all around the house.
When I picked her up from "big kid school" she had many stories to tell such as..."the toilet paper thingy went flying in the air" and "it was an accident".  I will never know what any of this means and I am just fine with that!

Boston

Our last few days in New England were spent in Bean Town (aka Boston).  After our drive in from Maine, the girls were ready to take a tour of Boston via Dukw (Ducks). Dukws are buses that turn into boats and were used in WWII.  They are currently being used as tour guides in cities across the US.  On the tour we drove into the Charles river, which Abby thought was pretty cool!

After the tour we meet up with a friend of mine, Katherine, who I have known since high school and was also one of my collage roommates.  Katherine has been living in Boston for almost 4 years, so I was excited to introduce her to Abby and Mia.
Our last day of vacation was spent exploring Boston Gardens and visiting the aquarium.  The girls had a great time in Boston Gardens playing on the ducks. When we headed over to the aquarium, I forgot to take my camera, so you can just imagine the fish we came into contact with :)

Overall, it was a great vacation.  Shawn and I have learned it is a lot harder traveling as a family of four as oppose to a family of two!  When we arrived back home we were exhausted and hit with the reality that our house is a disaster!

Lazy Saturday in Maine

On Saturday we were invited to go out to Metinic Island, which is owned by Shawn's uncle Woody Post and his family.  It is a beautiful island about 45 minutes from the main land.  Shawn has many great memories from summers spent on Metinic Island with his cousins Larkin and Jacob and I have had the privilege of staying there on my last two trips to Maine.  This trip however, Shawn and I decided that we would have to skip out on seeing Metinic due to Abby and Mia.  The girls were just too overwhelmed with everything that had been going on and we felt it would be very difficult taking them out there.  So we stayed behind and enjoyed a lazy Saturday in Maine!

We were able to meet up with cousin Lisa and her boy Luke, who had flown in from Philly, for lunch in Camdon, Maine.
After lunch we took Abby down to the harbor to run off some energy while Mia slept.

A Day with Thomas the Train

Abby was really excited to go and see Thomas the Train with Owen on our fourth day in Maine.  Shawn and I were not sure how much Mia would be able to do, but to our surprise she joined in on all the action.  The weather was beautiful and all of the family had a great time!
Later that night we were invited to dinner at Shawn's uncle Dick and aunt Lea's house.  Once again, the girls enjoyed Maine's fresh air by frolicking in their backyard!

Pond Island

Pond Island is a little piece of Heaven on Earth!  Shawn's Uncle Dick and Aunt Lea offered to take the family out for a day of exploring and playing in the water on their island.  Uncle Dick took the family on a short ride on his lobster boat, the Antares. It was a bit foggy but we were able to enjoy the peaceful nature that the island has to offer.

Owls Head lighthouse, Breakwater, and the five napkin burger

We had a lot planned for our second day in Maine but the day could not begin without eating delicious burgers served at Owls Head General Store.  It just so happens that Christina, Shawn's only girl cousin, works there! Christina will be a junior in high school this year and is about to leave for a study abroad in Spain.. lucky girl! Her brother Charlie is very excited to not share a car, although he will have to drive around the exchange student that will be living with them while his sister is gone.
After eating the five napkin burger, we headed around the corner to visit the Owls Head lighthouse.
Next we planned a trip to the Breakwater.  We were a little worried if Abby would be able to walk the whole way without falling but she did great.  She only fell between the rocks once!:)
This is my favorite picture of the whole trip. I love those girls!
